I would like to thank Mr White and his team at the QMC for the excellent standard of care that I received in October 2019. Prior to seeing Mr White I was really struggling to stand for more that a few minutes with sciatica caused by a herniated disk. I had tried physio / exercise and diet without success and having met Mr White he clearly explained the results of the MRI and made it very easy for me to agree to a L4/L5 lumbar decompression operation. I was really impressed by how quickly I was operated on and the whole experience from arrival / booking in / the porter who took me down to theatre and then meeting Mr White and the anaesthetist before going into theatre gave me confidence in what was about to happen. Post surgery the treatment on D11 was excellent and after a couple of nights I left to go home. It is now 4 months after the operation and my recovery continues I have no pains in my legs and feet and although I get a little back ache I am at work, able to swim every morning, back on my bike and just back from a weeks skiing in Austria. Mr White and his team have given me a much better quality of life and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to others. Before the operation I asked my GP if he thought I should go ahead and he said 'if Mr White thinks its the right thing to do, he knows what he is talking about'. I recently received a letter from Mr White and I appreciate that he has said that if I get future problems that he would be happy to see me again. I hope that I do not need to take him up on the offer but non the less the offer is welcome. Thank you Mr White

I was involved in an accident at home and was immediately referred to Mr. White who carried out neurosurgery for me. I was given the most wonderful care for which I am very grateful. The words "thank you" hardly seem sufficient to someone who has effectively saved your life. Mr. White was very sympathetic during an after-care appointment and instilled great confidence in my recovery. I am continuing to improve after the accident and have been assured by Mr. White that he would be happy to see me on request if I feel I would like further advice. Thank you to Mr. White and all the team who looked after me.

I was diagnosed in February 2019 with a spinal cord tumour at t5/6 earlier and referred to Mr White, following an MRI Scan. He puts you at ease from the moment you meet him. At that first with Mr White he examined me and asked me to describe my symptoms. He then got the MRI imaging on screen and explained that it was a benign tumour narrowing the spinal cord. He spent time explaining what would happen if I left the tumour in place and the surgical options, including the risks, in a clear and concise way. I was scheduled for surgery quickly as I was becoming increasingly numb from the feet up and might soon expect to be paralysed. I had my pre-op the same day and was scheduled for the main operation the following week. The operation went very well and I was looked after excellently on the wards and visited frequently by Mr White and his colleagues. I want to say a big thankyou to all of the team, including Laurie and also all of the caring nurses/staff on the ward. Mr White is a calm, personable, highly skilled Neurosurgeon who has a formidable reputation within his field and in the Neurosurgical team at QMC. I am now well on the road to recovery and am still, after 6 months, noticing improvements on a weekly basis. My balance has immproved completely and I now walk better than before the operation. Mr White explained that optimum recovery could take up to two years and not to be worried if it seemed to be taking some time. As well as Mr White’s obvious skills as a surgeon, I would like to pay tribute to his caring and patient manner, dedication, clear and informative explanations and understanding. I am now extremely happy to be under Mr White’s continued care and attention.
